I cant help but feel that the underlying reason for Anne's downfall was that love turned to hate. Emotions ran intensely - for the highs and the lows. Henry was not equipped to deal with these emotions, and the situation was exacerbated by disappointment with lack of an heir, and also by his jousting accident. For a man used to getting his own way all his life, with a woman as intense as Anne, he needed to make what he viewed as the strongest show of power possible. He may also have wanted to display his power to Jane, as a new wife in the wings.....
